There are so many great online events for picture book authors, and here's one more contender to place in the ring. Some are for writing, some are for ideas, and some are for sharing. Mine is...
- not as stupendous as Susanna Leonard Hill's Perfect Picture Book Friday (PPBF) reviews
- (every Friday)
- not as purpose-driven as Mandy Robek's August Picture Books 10 for 10
- (every August 10th)
- not as momentous as Tara Lazar's PiBoIdMo (Picture Book Idea Month)
- (every November)
- not as profound as Paula Yoo's NaPiBoWriWee (National Picture Book Writing Week)
- (first week of every May )
- not as intense as Lora Koehler's and Jean Reagan's Picture Book Marathon
- (every February)
- not as ambitious as Julie Hedlund's 12 x 12
- (each month, all year long)
- not as influential as Dianne de Las Casas' Picture Book Month
- (every November)
...but PB 14:14 will be COSMIC nonetheless. Goodies from 10 different authors will be given away, including two guest bloggers and prizes for 5 amazing winners. More details will be posted Saturday, February 1, right after the High Five interview. You might want to go ahead and gear up now by re-reading several of your favorite picture books. Start checking out stacks of picture books from your library. Get ready to BLAST OFF!
UPDATE: And here are the PRIZES...
UPDATE: And here are the PRIZES...
Ooh, this is right up my alley! I'm adding PB 14:14 to my list of awesome picture book things to do this year.
ReplyDeleteYea! A comment! Hi, Lauri! Hope you love it. I'll warn you, though that it will be a lot of work. Gear up now.
ReplyDeleteI hope I have at least about a dozen participants since there are FIVE winners of awesome prizes!
Hi Christie...For 2014, I'm trying to do a better job of visiting the awesome blogs I've been following. I'm so glad I stopped by today to read your post...this looks like an awesome challenge. I am already signed up to take Susanna's Making Picture Book Magic course for February...but your PB14:14 sounds fantastic! Do you think I'd be on overload with both? I'm a picture book junkie, so maybe not.
ReplyDeleteI'll share this around.:) Love the logo!
I'm not sure if it will overload you or not. Haven't checked out Susanna's new course yet. Since you're a junkie, you may be just fine.
DeleteForgot to say thank you for the logo. I designed it myself. I was hoping it would be decent. Glad you love it. Yea!!!
DeleteIt will still be a frozen tundra here in late February so I'm sure to be glued to my keyboard. Sign me up!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely frozen here today. I'm glued to my keyboard even on beautiful summer days too though.
DeleteThis looks pretty interesting. I have several projects in the hopper this month. If I get through with them, I will definitely sign up.
ReplyDeleteI hope you do!!! When the sign-ups open (still haven't figured that part out exactly yet), spread the word! My biggest project is to get the house UN-decorated from Christmas. Got the tree done, but not everything else yet.
DeleteSame here. I LOVE reading picture books and often take as many as six or more home with me. I get revved from PPBF and want to read all I see there. Are you going to have rules?
ReplyDeleteLike Vivian I will be taking an intensive class but this sounds right up my alley. Sign me up. If I get overloaded I'll have to drop something but from my experience with these things, I always take something away from them.
Thanks for offering this.
Only six picture books at a time? I usually get 26! Anyway, for this, you'll need AT LEAST 14! If you get more, then you can be selective. There will be a few rules, but nothing too major, I hope. It shouldn't be too intense, but it will have work involved, maybe an hour a day? Hope to see you there!
DeleteSounds fun. How do we sign up?
ReplyDeleteNice to see you! Sign-ups will officially begin in February. Is that too late? Seeing as this is a first for me, it should be interesting to say the least. I do hope it will be lots of fun, as well is a great learning experience for all.
DeleteI'm very intrigued by this; I look forward to seeing the details! :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to know it sounds so intriguing. I'll probably post the prizes soon, to keep the intrigue alive. Hope to see you there. More details will definitely follow!
DeleteI'm interested to see the details, but I don't usually write reviews. Can't wait to see what you've developed here! (I'm also very curious about the other LAURI up there - there aren't very many of us who have no "e"!)
ReplyDeleteHey, Lauri, this is the other Lauri (Fortino). I've seen your name around the kidlitosphere a few times. I've signed up for Christie's PB 14:14 under Frog on a Blog. If you have a moment, look me up. I like your Lauri's Stories, great name too!
DeleteI will say this - that it will not be reviews. It will be more than a review, like a lesson plan, almost. I can't wait to see HOW what I've thought of will actually develop and turn out! Hope all goes well. Hope to see you there!
ReplyDeleteChristie,
ReplyDeletethis sounds like a LOT of fun....I am wondering if by mid Feb I might be able to do this. Anxious for the sign up and the rules. Right now, I'm putting it on the calendar. Thanks for this unique challenge. My granddaughter will LOVE it (as I'll surely include her in my 'read, study, share.')
So glad you're excited. One rule I'll share is that the books must be published in 2004 or later. Good luck!
DeleteI would love your free book dummy template, and I am glad I found this site--the challenge looks great!

I think I would like to add this to my busy February. :) ticking all the boxes now.
