To celebrate this special day, I'd like to give away a picture book: Big Chickens Go to Town by Leslie Helakoski, illustrated by Henry Cole (a way-awesome illustrator). I'm sure you'll love it! It is chock full of the power of threes and repetition. If you haven't heard of this WAY-awesome writer, this book is the third book in her series of "Big Chickens" books. The first is Big Chickens; the sequel is Big Chickens Fly the Coop. So I'm kind of stuck on threes right now. Here are some 300 equivalents:
- 300 seconds = 5 minutes
- 300 minutes = 5 hours
- 300 hours = 12.5 days
All you have to do is leave a comment (by 3:00 PM EST on Thursday 2-23-12) about what writing thing you would do if you had 300 seconds, minutes, or hours to work on and/or accomplish it. If I had 300 hours, I would write my next book, or two, or three... If I had 300 minutes, I would write my blog posts for the next couple of weeks. If I had 300 seconds, I would either finish this blog post or read a picture book. If I had $300, I'd buy lots of books! (Or put it aside for my next SCBWI conference.)
Okay, your turn...
If I had 300 hours, I'd churn out another sonnet or two. :)
ReplyDeleteReally? It would take you that long?!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite pb author! 300 hours a chapbook of poetry, a draft of a pb and a brand new MG outline. Congrats on 300 that is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you'll get special magic dust sprinkled in the blogosphere since Leslie Helakoski is your favorite pb author.

Congrats on your milestone! If I had 300 peaceful, quiet, unstressful hours, I would definitely finish the research for one of my non-fiction picture book ideas. That would be lovely.
ReplyDeleteYeah, peaceful, quiet, and unstressful. Those are the key words.
DeleteIf I had 300 hours, I would finish my mg novel. If I had 300 minutes, I would bake a batch of chocolate chip, raisin, craisin oatmeal cookies and then write my next five blog posts. If I had 300 seconds, I would doodle the mc of my next picture book. If I had 300 dollars, I would feel less guilty about the money I spent on a laptop to write manuscripts.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 300 followers! That is fantastic.
congrats on achieving your goal. If I had 300 hours I would go to Summatra for research, or travel to New York for the winter SCBWI conference.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Christie! And thanks for the fun competition!
ReplyDeleteI'd spend my 300 hours as follows:
The first 300 seconds doing a happy dance and boosting the flow of oxygen to my brain.
300 minutes generating new PB ideas
and the remainder of the 300 hours writing PB texts---with a few naps thrown in.
As to the 300 dollars, I'd spend it on a dehydrator to help me eat healthier and have more energy. So in the long run, it would actually help my writing also.
What a luxury it would be!
I like how you put the seconds first, then the minutes, and then the remainder of the hours. Cool. Happy dances are fun. And so are naps.
Delete300 hours would give me the time to write some of my books, plan and write some blog posts ahead of time for my many blogs and maybe even catch up on all of the sleep I am missing lately in order to have time to write. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the 300 Followers. If I had 300 hours I would run away for a vacation all by myself and just WRITE! A girl can dream.....sigh.
ReplyDeleteDreams are always good. I like dreaming BIG!
DeleteIf I had 300 hours, I would finish all of the edits on my various stories until I'm ready to query agents.
ReplyDeleteIf I had 300 minutes I would go through all the pages and links that I have bookmarked on my PC and organize them into some sort of meaningful coherence!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 300 milestone!
Great idea for a contest Christie, and congratulations on the 300 follower milestone.
ReplyDeleteIf I had 300 seconds I'd write comments on 3 blog posts.
If I had 300 minutes, I'd write an outline for my ebook
If I had 300 hours, I would write a complete draft of my ebook, plus 3 PB drafts!
Fun to dream!
An e-book?! What DO you have up your sleeves, Julie?
